Icon ModulesAn icon module can be used to create a colorful button. They can be in a two, three, or four-column layout. Click here to view an example of several icon modules. Click here to see a list of available icons.
An icon module has the following fields:
Icon Class Name This field can be left blank if you don't want to use an actual icon for your icon module. If you do want to use one, input the name of the specific icon you wish to use such as icon-email. A list of available icon can be found here.
Has Background Image or Color Select "Yes" if you want to upload an image for the background of your icon module or if you want to create a web request for a specific color be used. If you want a blank white background, leave it selected on "No." Image Source This option will only appear if you selected "Yes" for the "Has Background Image or Color" option above. If so, use this option to find the image to link to in Cascade. Title Field This is the title of an individual icon button, usually 4 words or less. In the example screenshot (the second one down on the right), the Title is "Schedule an Appointment." Caption/Blurb Field This field can be used to provide more information to your user about what the button will take you to. In this example, the caption is "Use our online tool to schedule an appointment with us.". It works exactly like a text module. Open in New Tab? If you select "Yes" for this option, a user's browser will open a new tab to display the icon module's link when clicked. Otherwise, the browser will just direct the user to the new page. Internal URL Browse to a page internal in Cascade if you want your icon button to link out to a web page. If you use this field, do not use External URL. External URL Use this field when you want your icon to link to either a page external to Cascade or to a video. Be sure to use the full URL. If you use this field, do not use Internal URL. Hidden FieldsIcon Field Web Services will choose an icon for you that is appropriate to the content of your icon module. There are literally hundreds to choose from. If you want, they can leave it blank so your module is text only. If you want icons in your icon modules, email web@sandiego.edu to discuss options with them.Color Fields Web Services has set default colors for the icon module, the background being a very light gray and the icon and text being a bright blue (our "immaculata" blue). After creating your icon in Cascade, you can submit a web request to have a specific USD color added to the background of your icon module. Here is a list of available icon colors. The font color will have to be appropriate to the specific background color selected to maintain accessible color contrast ratios. |
