User Front-End Overview

The front end of the Senior Project database can be found in each of the programs under Capstone Senior Projects as well as the main landing page for Capstone Experience:




Management Back-End

Only specific individuals with access to the Manage Area can be access can access this page by going to:

Login Logi n using your USDOne username and password.




Adding a New Senior Project

Click the Add+ button.





Supply the Data

Senior Projects have the following fields:

  • Active?: Marking the Yes box will make the entry appear for users of the live site. Otherwise, the entry exists only in the database.
  • Featured?: Adds a small text box over the image reading, "Featured."
  • Year: Year of publication.
  • Title: The title of the project.
  • Description: The project's description.
  • Team (use bullet list to list members): List out all members of the team using a bullet list.
  • Media: Select either image or youtube to upload an image of the project or to copy-and-paste the URL for a YouTube video. Images should be 960 pixels wide or wider and no more than 2 MB.
  • + Add Media: Click this button to add another image or video to the project. Click and drag the arrows to the left to rearrange the display order of the media.
  • Category: Select one or more of the following categories:
    • Community
    • Competition
    • Entrepreneurship
    • Faculty Research
    • Industry Sponsored
    •  OneOne-Semester
  • Program:Select one or more of the following:
    • Computer Science
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Engineering
    • Industrial and Systems Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • MS in Cyber Security
  • Instructor (Optional): Select an instructor from the dropdownthe drop-down. If the instructor is not listed, click the button below for + Add New Instructor.
  • + Add New Instructor: Click this button to add a new instructor to the dropdown drop-down list.
  • Sponsor (Optional): Select a sponsor from the dropdowndrop-down. If the sponsor is not listed, click the button below for + Add New Sponsor.
  • + Add New Sponsor: Click this button to add a new sponsor to the dropdown drop-down list.

Click the Submit button to create your new project entry.


Specific Publication Type Fields

Book

Title: Title of the specific article or feature.
  • Scholarship URL: Link to the scholarship's URL.
  • Media Title: Title of the journal, book, or other platform.
  • Edition/Number: Edition of the media. Do not include 'Ed'.. example: 5th, not 5th Ed.
  • Publisher: Specific publisher. 
  • Year: Year of publication.
  • Forthcoming?:Check if the publication is not yet released.
  • Featured?This is used if a faculty member wants to showcase a specific scholarship on their public biography page rather than the default of the most recent (up to 10).
  • Co-author(s): Enter the last names of up to 5 co-authors.
  • Editor(s): Enter the last names of up to 5 contributing editors.
  • Notes: Field for notes.
  • Approved?: Check if approved.
  • Click on Add This Scholarship.




    Chapters of Books or Articles within Books

    • Title: Title of the specific article or feature.
    • Scholarship URL: Link to the scholarship's URL.
    • Volume: Enter a volume number of journal items. Must be numeric only. Leave blank if not applicable.
    • Media Title: Title of the journal, book, or other platform.
    • Page Number(s): Leave blank if not applicable.
    • Edition/Number: Edition of the media. Do not include 'Ed'.. example: 5th, not 5th Ed.
    • Publisher: Specific publisher. 
    • Year: Year of publication.
    • Forthcoming?Check if the publication is not yet released.

    Presentations and Conferences

    • Title: Title of the specific article or feature.
    • Date/Start Date: Beginning of the article start date.
    • End Date: End date of the article. Leave blank if no end date.
    • Co-presenter(s): Enter the names of up to 5 co-presenters.
    • Role: Check all roles that apply:
      • chair
      • commentator
      • debater
      • moderator
      • organizer
      • panelist
      • presenter
      • participant
    • Conference Name: Enter the last names of up to 4 contributing editors.
    • Conference Location: Enter the location, such as hotel, convention center, etc.
    • City: The city where the conference or presentation took place.
    • State: The state where the conference or presentation took place.
    • Country: The state where the conference or presentation took place.
    • Approved?: Check if approved.

    Click on Add This Scholarship

    Community Involvement

    • Title: Title of the specific article or feature.
    • Date/Start Date: Beginning of the article start date.
    • End Date: End date of the article. Leave blank if no end date.
    • Approved?: Check if approved.

    Editing a

    Scholarship

    Find the scholarship you wish to edit, and click the edit icon to the right of the faculty member listing.

    If you've just added a new scholarship, it should also appear in this list.

    Image Removed

    Editing a Specific Entry

    Find the entry you wish to edit, and click the edit update icon to the right of the listing.

    After making changes, click the Update This Scholarship button.

    If you wish to delete the entry, click the Delete This Scholarship button.

    There's no way to delete an entry currently. You can set it as inactive to make it disappear from the live site. This method prevents accidental deletion of entries.
