Accessing the Law Homepage in Cascade
For instructions on how to use Cascade, visit sandiego.edu/cascade.
To reach the law home page in Cascade, go to cms.sandiego.edu, use your USDOne login name and password to log in, and then navigate to the law site in the site selector.
Once there, click on the index page at the very bottom of the File Explorer.
Editing the Home Page
Once selected, click the Edit button to begin editing the page.
Sections
The Law homepage is divided into five sections:
- Hero Banner
- Personas
- Why USD School of Law
- Messaging
- Explore SD
Most of these five sections are further sub-divided into other sections.
Filter by Name, Vendor, Access, or Format
Entries on the Library Research Database can be filtered by name, vendor, access level, or format.
Use any of the filter fields to filter the list by the associated critera. Type search criteria into the field and press Enter.
The list will be parsed by the search criteria, displaying entries which only include the criteria.
Multiple criteria across multiple filters can be used simultaneously.
Clear fields or return dropdowns menus to All to return to the full list.
Deleting an Entry
To permanently remove an entry from the system, click the rubbish bin icon to the right of the entry.
Editing an Entry
Click the small notepad and pencil icon to the right of the corresponding entry to begin editing it.
Form Fields
Name: Name of the resource.
Vendor: Publisher name.
URL (include the http:// in your URL): Link to the resource.
Access: Stipulates the user's access level required to view the material.
- USD Only - Must have a USDOne login name and password.
- LRC Login - Must have a specific LRC login granted only to School of Law faculty, staff, and students.
- Registration Required - An extra step which requires users to be registered before viewing the material.
- Open Access - Available to everyone.
Categories: A way for users to see a menu of different listings which all share a common subject matter.
- Tax Law
- Foreign and International Law
- California Law
- Federal Law
- Historical Law
- News/Reports/Reviews/Legal Commentary
Description: The description of the resource.
Dates covered: If the resources has a volume number based on dates.
Format: How the resource is stored.
- Full text - If it's a full paleobook.
- Partial full text - If it's only an article from a paleobook.
- Citation only - If it's only a snippet of a paleobook.
- E-books - A digital entry so that you can save it in the cloud so it's never lost, can easily do a Control + F or a Command + F to find words, quotes, or sections, which also makes it super easy to travel or move since any small smartphone can access it, and you can store notes which can also be searched without having to make a whole bunch of terrible highlighter marks all over the thing that then comes off on your fingers and ruins your manicure game.

Saving and Publishing Changes
Click the Update button to save and publish changes to the live website.
