Deleting Assets

Deleted assets are held in the Recycle Bin for 30 days.

The Un-Publish Content option is selected by default when deleting assets. Do not uncheck this option or the asset will remain on the live website even though it is not present in Cascade Server.

  • Contributor: If a Contributor deletes an asset, it will initiate Workflow. Assets will be unpublished and deleted only after content review approval.

  • Approver: Approvers can delete assets without Workflow approval. A Workflow task will automatically be created, but submitting the task will immediately send the asset to the Recycle Bin.

In the Explorer Pane, hover over the asset and click the Options Arrow to display the Asset Action Menu. Then select Delete. You can also select Delete from the Asset Action Bar to delete the asset currently displayed in the Workspace.

Content Contributors will receive a prompt to begin Workflow.

The Workflow process is covered in detail here.

Content Approvers will see a different message when deleting pages.

Ensure Un-publish Content is selected.  If Un-publish Content is unselected, the asset will remain on the live website even though it has been deleted from Cascade Server. This also means that the asset will continue to be accessible and display in search engine results.

Clicking Submit will begin a Workflow process. However, as soon as the process is submitted the asset will be deleted and removed from the web server.
